Curiosity
Enrosadira
A natural phenomenon typical of the Dolomites: at sunrise and sunset the mountains are tinged with pink, orange and violet colours.
Why does it happen?
The Dolomites are mainly composed of dolomite rock, which reflects low-angle sunlight. When the sun's rays pass through a large portion of the atmosphere, blue light is scattered and warm tones remain on the rock faces.
Ladin tradition
According to legend, the enrosadira originates from the rose garden of King Laurin, which at sunset turned the mountains pink like an enchantment.
When and where to see it?
Especially with clear skies, at sunset (more intense) and at sunrise, on mountain groups such as Sella, Odle, Catinaccio and Marmolada.
